10 Ways to bring Autumn to your home

Hello,
Today I am going to be doing a post about ways to bring Autumn to your home, if you didn't know Autumn/Fall is among us so I want to make a post to get us all into an autumnal mood. I was originally going to do 6 but I had looked into more crafts etc so there are more ideas...yay. If you didn't notice my background has changed I thought it looked like a September layout so I chose that.

Anyway, let's get started...

1. Do an Autumn/Fall clear out
Start to get rid of anything that is too summery or is a little out-dated (for example: a 4 year old calendar?) and start to put some autumnal coloured things together such as red or yellow. This will make you feel more in the Autumn mood.

Ignore my Batman poster...

2. Adding smells to your home
It's great to add Autumn smells to your house. You can buy an air fresher or a room spray but making one is more fun:
You Will Need:
4 pieces of lemon
3 pieces of orange
2 sticks of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of cloves
8 cranberries

Boil this in hot water and then simmer this, it will smell so nice...the only problem with this is you can't keep it forever but it's good to make if people are visiting. After you have done this discard it. You can use other flavours, other methods are smelly candles, oil refreshers, bake some pumpkin pie or cake.

3. Add some candles
Candles are very significant in the season of Autumn and smelly ones especially, I would advise to buy a cinnamon or kind of pumpkin candle etc. It's best not to make candles as there is a lot of fire and heat involved with the process.

4. Make an Autumn to do list
To make this craft buy an autumnal frame such as this one, then put a peice of blank paper, on the actual glass screen thing write your to do list, then tick them off as you go through the day, the next day you can rub it off.

5. Autumn Bunting
Adding colour to your room is vital, it makes it feel brighter and it's seasonal. To make this you can be lazy and buy this but to make it:
You will need:
Some autumn leaves
String
Pencil
2 pins (if you don't have pins use sellotape or maybe blue tack)

To make this grab your leaves and pierce small holes into each leaf, next pull the string through each hole, then spread out the leaves onto your peice of string make sure this string is a reasonable size. When you have done, get the string and pierce a pin both ends of the string and make sure it goes through the wall so it's secure.

6. Decorate the room with pumpkins
You don't have to grow a pumpkin but you can buy a cheap one from the supermarket or even make one out of wool or felt. Also don't carve them until the 31st!

7. Drink some nice hot drinks
This isn't to customize your room but to get yourself into the autumnal mood. Good drinks to try are: Vanilla Chai Tea, Pumpkin Latte, Hot Chocolate, Black Forest Hot Chocolate and any pumpkin flavoured hot drink. What? 'Tis the season to be orange?

8. Bringing nature into your home
To bring nature to your home, go outside and collect some leaves, sticks, pinecones, acorns or conkers to decorate your room.

9. Go outside!
Get some fresh air and take a nice autumnal forest walk! This may not be 'at home' but it's very refreshing.

Come on that's just beautiful!

10. Make some autumnal pictures
You can make these with leaves on paper or make a collage on the computer totally your choice!

I hope you enjoyed this, I sure did and I hope your Autumns are great this year!
